in D&D, the value that a player must meet or exceed when rolling a die or dice (usu. referred to as a to hit roll) to be successful in combat; used as a general term within any die-rolling combat game. Ex: Player: “Can I get a to-hit bonus because this guy killed Bob’s character so I’m really really mad?” GM: “Just tell me if you made your to-hit roll, dumbass.”
